  1. Hello yet again. I’ve been talking with Tracy Horner at AA and we might have stumbled onto an exciting answer to the communica- tion problem. I think AA should notify all members about our blog and invite everyone to participate. This will serve 509′s perceived mandate by using the information conduit and will help AA communicate better. If anyone reads this please respond. I would like to know someone is out there. My take is that no one is using our blog anyway and since we do not have a membership per say we should invite AA into our information tree. The same goes for CBC, WSU & public schools too. Cool huh!

  2. Dear Diary. It’s too bad an organization doesn’t promote a plein air painting day at McNary reserve. Pat and I went there last week and it is really impressive. There is a lot of potential for landscapes and such. We could invite every one in the Tri-Cities to come and paint from 9AM to 12 and then go for lunch but there is no organization to produce such an event. It would have been fun. Too bad. Pat

  3. Hello. I really would have rather been at the 509 solon than where I was last Fri. Why do playwrites need to exhibit their angst and profanity? Most people don’t get divorced, use drugs, commit suicide and use profanity on a regular basis yet our plays are filled with such non-funcionality. Are we the only sane ones in the room? I suspect that if you are a good writer you could make a good living writing good stuff about real people. No scmultz, no melodrama, no surreal episodes. Real life has plenty of drama. I am glad no one reads this stuff. Pat

  4. Dear Diary. We should have someone take notes at the salons so we people who could not make all of them will know what is going on. Are we meeting at Sakura this mo? Brooke is rethinking the format of her gallery. We all should wish her well and offer any assistance we can. Did you read the letter to the editor from the people extolling TC for its performance art? Yichien did good with her recycled dresses. Way to go!! Thanks Pat

  5. Dear Diary. I am wondering if there is a real interest in exhibiting art. Does anyone have any ideas about how we can get more action? I saw the article in Money Mag. about Richland being 51st best place to live in US. Nothing was said about Ke and Pa. They marked R down on art/entertainment & higher education. I agree that WSU isn’t enough. Did you know that you can’t get a Art/Ed degree from them even in Pullman? Shame. Pat

  6. Hello. I couldn’t get on face book so here goes. Connie Slagle told me yesterday that November will be Allied member’s show. All members are invited to be a part of it. She also explained why the gallery is run the way it is. It’s the Not For Profit situation. I hope all cross members whom I have vented to get this message. July is for members too. One of my complaints was that there was not a feature show for all members but I guess now there is. Connie indicated that they could have had more work to hang yesterday!!!!

  7. Dear Diary. The knot came untied on Sparky’s lunge line. He ran off but was easy to catch. We need that new bit to start him in a bridle. Went to Sakura tonight. Food, service and ambiance were excellent. 509 should all go there for a dinner salon meeting. We should support the people who support us. I e-mailed Allied to see if they would sponsor another gallery for local people. My wife accuses me of being a trouble maker. I don’t think so. Would it be possible to make a loop of a video tape for exhibition? Pat

    • Pat, this is like playing raquetball on the wall of the Grand Canyon, for me. I hit something, and something else happens. Trying to get as many people as possible to be able to comment, or write, or vent, or post or ??? as want to. Vertical learning curves are sometimes off-putting, but we’re in this, so we might as well assimilate.

Did you like the Sakura show? Hope you enjoyed all the pieces. Your Jerry Garica piece garners continual acclaim and wonder. It truly hits a nerve with a great many people. Me too !! I can feel that piece very deeply. Yes, we all can enjoy the food and atmos at Sakura. It’s a good place, and they are very open to what we’re doing, which is an amazing thing, in itself.
Let’s see how far this one goes, eh?

    • Pat,

Thanks for going to the Sakura to check it out. Completely agree, the place is excellent. We’ll have the reception there, Nov. 7th , and they’ll have some of their tasty food available. I really like the idea of a video loop. Got a camera?

Did you get the invitation to be an author/contributor of the Word Blog? I’m having a Dickens of a time getting my head wrapped around this blog thing, but I’m trying, oh yeah Shiva I’m trying. Wrote something on the blog, we’ll see if it gets into the e-niverse.

      Thanks, Beth

  8. Dear diary, I wrote on the facebook about it being lonely on this blog but no one has responded. It’s rainy and windy outside. I hope I can work with Sparky this pm. I wonder if Sparky should be capitalized since he is an animal. NPR is on another “the public schools suck” campaign. I get so tired of that. Write more later.

  9. Hello. I have heard life stirring in the brushes. Contact Ken Aldrich if you can’t get on to share in this clever repartee. Ken is listed as an artist in this web page. He does really nice watercolors. I hope he has some in the WSU show. Apparently there is only 9 participants. Even though it was short notice only having 9 people is unfortunate. I borrowed one painting from a friend’s collection. Thanks Pat

  10. Well here I am again. All alone in this great big blog. I guess I’ll go down and try to teach my driving pony to turn to the right. We pack our pots etc for Spokane tomorrow. Jenny writes that the McNary tiles are ready to fire. That’s good. I picked up some art from Prosser today and I’ll take the pots to Spokane. I might burn the paintings. Pat

  11. Boy what a time. We are getting ready for our Spokane show. The gallery decided to have me share the space and I am disappointed. Originally they said I could have the entire feature space so I tooled up for it and have about 100 pots and a dozen paintings. If this works it will be worth it. Consignment is out because it is a co-op gallery and I can’t commute to Spokane monthly. Boy it’s nice to have this blog all by myself. Pat

  12. We got 41.19 mpg at 75mph w/ a/c. Cool although I was hoping for more. My last diesel averaged 44 mpg and the one before got 51 mpg on the highway. Life is tough but at least my 18 mpg truck can sit idle for a while. I think the fancy wheels and tires are costing mpg. We deliver art to WSU Monday between 3-6 PM. Life is good. Pat

  13. Some times I feel like a motherless child. I wonder who created that. I am all alone in this great big blog with no one to talk to. We saw “Wicked” last night. It was good. We drove to Seattle and back through White Pass on one tank of fuel. Cool huh? 551 miles-I’ll check mileage tomorrow. Monday we have to deliver art to WSU. I hope everyone is in the show. It pains me to know that there are so many talented arty types who are afraid to exhibit. Maybe I should print this out, seal it in a bottle and throw it in the ocean. I miss people. Pat

  14. Hello! Is there anybody in there? Smile if you can hear me. Is anyone at home? Pink Floyd really had some good lyrics, huh? Pat

  15. Another comment. Since 509 doesn’t want to produce art shows I wonder if there shouldn’t be a spin off or maybe another complete organization using 509 information tree for communication. If we can get 10-20 dues paying, active artists and exhibitors we could function in a co-op gallery. Although Beaux and Appleseed are gone they did work for years and should be considered successful. Write me at patricflm1@verizon.ne if interested. Thanks Pat

  16. Hello. After last nights salon I am wondering what is wrong with using this format to get info out. She Pat mentioned that most organizations have a large membership while only a few actually participate. Someone said that it was inconvenient to log onto the blog but that is their call and If they don’t want to get involved. It wasn’t hard to do and would save Beth some redundant servitude. What say?

  17. “…509 has pulled it’s support…”

“…uncomfortable with potential novices and controversy.

“…people who are not “The Chosen.”

clearly there is disappointment, misunderstaning and a lack of clarity reflected in these comments.

As a point of clarification – 509Art did not “pull” it’s support. 509Art will always be in support of Art, though 509Art does not host shows. As we grow along this learning curve of “what is 509Art?” this WSU event helped us to clarity what our role is and is not. 509Art acts as a conduit, helping connections happen
What Pat and Doug Gast are creating with the WSU “This is What I Do” show is fabulous, vital and necessary. We are thrilled to facillitate such connections. This is the process at work!

  18. Ken! You haven’t committed to the show yet! Also 509 has pulled it’s support from the show to just being a conduit of info so now I guess it won’t be 509art annual show. Maybe WSU annual show although the annualness is in question now too. 509 was uncomfortable with potential novices and controversy. Let’s hope that we can find a proper venue for us people who are not “The Chosen.” Remember all censors feel justified that’s why they do it. Thanks Pat

  19. Pat, Thanks for all your hard work with “This Is What I Do”.

  20. I have info on 509Art’s first annual “This Is What I Do” art show coming in 2010. Contact me with name, medium, size and how to get hold of you. This is preliminary information. More later. patrickflemingart.net All adults and selected kids are invited to attend. A big thank you to Doug Gast at WSU in Rich.

  21. Testing 1..2…, testing… I’m trying to figure out this WordPress process.
